AAA predicts that the number of people traveling this years will be a 3.9% increase over the amount of people who traveled last year. Further, AAA believes that 4.3 million more people will be traveling this year than last year. The majority of the travelers will be using motor vehicles to get to their travel destinations, with a predicted 104 million of the travelers using motor vehicles for their travels.
The peak travel period during this holiday season is from Saturday, December 21 through Wednesday January 1. Out of all the days during the travel period, AAA predicts that the roadways will be most crowded and congested on Thursday, December 26. The high amount of travelers will likely cause slow downs and delays on the roadways.
