Pokemon Go Raises Safety Concerns

July 20 , 2016 | Personal Injury

From distracted pedestrians to automobile accidents to trespasing on private property, the success of Pokemon GO is raising concerns for public safety.

Pokemon GO allows players to capture digital creatures at real life locations using their smartphones. Many of the desirable items in the game are located at “PokeStops” which are often times located at real life landmarks.

The game has been linked to trespassing incidents, automobile accidents and pedestrian accidents. In many of these cases, there have been injuries sustained.

Here are some tips to help you stay safe while playing Pokemon GO:

  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times
  • Play with a partner or with a group in well-lit areas
  • Do not drive, ride your bike or skateboard while playing the game
  • Do not trespass onto private property while playing the game

Following these tips will help to ensure your safety while playing the game.

As a driver, you should also be aware of your surroundings and be on the lookout for people trying to “catch” Pokemon.
