Of the 43 million that will travel for the holiday, it is estimated that 36 million of those people will be driving to their destinations. In Wisconsin alone, it is predicted that 920,000 people will be traveling.
The holiday travel period is from Thursday, June 30 until Monday, July 4. During this time, the top driving times will be on Friday, July 1 in the afternoon and Monday, July 4 in the afternoon.
If you plan to travel this holiday weekend, make sure you leave with plenty of time to arrive at your destination and plan ahead. Also, be prepared for the unexpected, such as delays and traffic jams due to the high volume of travelers.
