Finding a Good Nursing Home

June 7 , 2016 | Nursing Home Neglect and Abuse

When a loved one becomes unable to live on their own safely, it is sometimes necessary for them to enter into a nursing home. It can be very stressful and nerve-racking to find the right nursing home for your loved one. You’ll likely want to ensure that your loved one will be safe and happy in the nursing home.

Here are four steps to help you choose a nursing home:

Step 1: Locate nursing homes in your area.

Step 2: Compare the quality of the nursing homes you are interested in.

  • Visit medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare to compare and view the the nursing home quality of all the Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing homes in the United States of America.

Step 3: Schedule a visit with the nursing homes you’re considering.

  • A visit can assist you in seeing the quality of care and the life of the actual residents.

Step 4: Choose the nursing home that fits your needs best.

  • If you find more than one nursing home you like, use the information you received to compare them. Trust your senses as to which nursing home is the best fit for your loved one.

While we hope that all nursing homes are treating their residents with the care and respect they deserve, sometimes that is not the case. If you believe that your loved one is suffering abuse or neglect in their nursing home, contact Martin Law Office for a free consultation.
