Ford Recall

There is an ongoing investigation by federal safety regulators into the brake systems in Ford F-150 trucks.  They are investigating to see if the recall on F-150 needs to be expanded for brake failure.

Owners of 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150 trucks have reported experiencing sudden brake failures. A recall has already been issued for 2013 and 2014 for brake failure. The trucks that were recalled had a 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine, which is the same engine that the trucks that are currently under investigation have.

The original recall was issued in May. The brake failures were due to an internal brake fluid which lead to a loss of brake pressure. If this occurred, the driver of the vehicle would be alerted to the problem by warning chines and warning lights. This problem could cause loss of front brake function leading to increased stopping distances.

The NHTSA has recieved reports from some drivers of 2015 model of loss of brake function and the warning lights and warning chimes going off. Some drivers of 2016 model have also reported loss of brake function, but have not experienced the warning lights or warning chimes.

The investigation is trying to determine whether the 2015 and 2016 models should be added to the recall. If the 2015 and 2016 models are added 228,000 trucks will be added to the recall. After the investigation is completed, it will be determine whether or not the trucks will be added to the recall.

What do you think about this potential recall?
